At the beginning of June, my wife was looking for a good hosting company to run her blog site. She kindly asked me look into this and provide her with some information. She relied on my expertise because I had lots of experience with hosting as I use to run my own site, couple of years ago. Instead of going with a company that I was familiar, I instead told my wife to sign up with HostGator. The reason why I recommend them was partly due to a recommendation by a friend of mine. Little did I know that this would turn into a nightmare that would last two months. Less than two weeks after we signed up, I found out that Bluehost had a better pricing and we decided to follow HostGator’s policy to cancel our services. The cancellation process was very straight forward, a couple of clicks and it was over. I received a confirmation via email a couple of hours later confirming the cancellation and that my funds will be refunded at the next billing cycle.
Two months went by and we still haven’t received anything. I contacted them on a Saturday morning and I was told that the matter would be looked into as a priority and that I will get a follow up. I also found my old emails and reopened the ticket requesting my refund.
