My fiancé didn’t have many expectations out of the reception and going to a dance class for our first dance was not something that he ever wanted to do or was comfortable with. Me on the other hand, had many plans and dreams about my wedding and reception and wanted to make sure everything will be flawless. It took me a bit of time to convince my fiancé to agree for the dance classes. We chose the song Dance the Night Away by Lionel Richie and decided to add a bit of salsa in to the dance. Neither of us has prior experience with salsa and decided to make it a fun learning event. We contacted a dancing company that was recommended to us and I do not want to say their name as I wasn’t completely impressed with them. We chose the private lessons to make sure we learn the routine on time for the wedding. However, it turns out the private lessons were in the same room and time as their regular class.
This meant that we had to share the music facilities and dance without the song at times. I was ok with it in the beginning as we were only learning the salsa basics but it became annoying when we started to tweak the moves to the song and be left to dance without the song whenever the group needed to play their music. The instructor was not organized and was horrible with responding to phone calls. At one point, we booked for a weekday class on top of our regular weekend classes and somehow the instructor forgot that she had booked an appointment and was a no show. By this point, my fiancé has had it and got in to a little argument with the instructor and decided to seek out other dancing companies. We found another one close to where we live and the first class was a disaster as it seemed like the new instructor wanted to teach everything from scratch. This meant more money and with the time constraint, it wasn’t going to be in our favour. We were so frustrated and thankfully, the old instructor contacted us and apologized and we decided to give her another shot. This actually got a lot better from that point on wards and we actually got “private lessons” and had our routine just in time for our wedding. Now i'm sure you guys have a lot more to share, please feel free to tell me a little about your fun.
