Pregnancy and Alcohol
Drinking alcohol during pregnancy can have serious negative impacts on the unborn baby. In Canada, it is estimated that nice in 100 babies are born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Each year more than 3000 babies are born with FASD and approximately 300,000 people are living with it. FASD consists of series disabilities that will last a lifetime. Examples of these include:
- learning deficiencies
- depression
- obsessive-compulsive disorder
- physical disabilities
- skeletal abnormalities
- facial deformities
