My Pregnancy: Week 28

It feels as if it was just yesterday I found out about my pregnancy and I’m already on my 28thweek. During my first appointment with the OB I found out that I was RH- and needed to get the RhoGam injection on my 28th week. I called and made the appointment and went to the hospital on Monday to get the injection. The nurse told me the injection will need to be put on the hip and I went there thinking it would just be a regular needle shot on your arm. The nurse also stated that after birth they will check the blood type of the baby and if the baby is determined to be positive, they will give me another dose of RhoGam. I was under the impression that the injection was a onetime thing but I found out that you will need to get it during each pregnancy.

I was talking to a co-worker of mine who had her children in South Asia about 10-15 years ago and wasn’t given the injection as it wasn’t known at that time in hercountry. However she is RH- and had a miscarriage after and eventually stopped trying to have a baby. So considering all this, I’m glad that we have the facilities to ensure everything goes smooth.   The following day on Tuesday my husband and I decided to go to the hospital where I will give birth and did a tour of the maternity ward. Take a look at his post about the experience:)
